Living in a culture different from your own can be thrilling yet challenging. By choosing this unique discipleship school, you will dive into a world that reshapes your views and fuels your passion for community service and mission work.

Why Choose the Jungle Discipleship School?

At JDS, faith and adventure go hand in hand. You'll learn to embrace the challenges of a jungle environment that offers both physical and spiritual tests. This experience is ideal for those who are ready to push their limits. The stunning natural beauty around you, coupled with the complex social issues faced by the community, will help you understand the importance of faith in action.

As you connect with your Burmese peers you will not only hear their stories but also discover your own ability to empathize and advocate for others. Research shows that cross-cultural experiences can increase empathy by 30%, allowing you to return home with impactful tools to inspire others in your community and ultimate be a world-changer.

Live Cross-Culturally

Living and learning across cultures is a pathway to true understanding. At JDS, you will eat authentic local dishes like rice and curry, sleep in shared quarters, and fully engage in the daily lives of your new friends. The magic of this experience lies in the friendships you forge and the lessons you absorb, often surpassing language barriers. You will eat what they eat, sleep where they sleep, bathe where they bathe, carry what they carry, learn what they learn. You will get no special treatment as a foreigner.

Are you ready to fully dive into this challenge? Imagine sharing laughter over cultural differences, bonding through shared struggles, and enjoying the rhythms of daily life together. This is your chance to step beyond your comfort zone and join a supportive community, deepening your faith in ways you never imagined.

Become an Advocate and Friend

One of the most fulfilling aspects of being at JDS is forming deep and lasting relationships with your Burmese classmates. Not only will you learn about their rich culture, but you will also become an advocate for their causes. These friendships will extend long beyond your time in Burma, enriching your lives for years to come.

When you immerse yourself in this experience, you are investing in the lives of others. By showing genuine care for their challenges and dreams, you become a vital voice that shares their stories back home. The friendships formed in this unique environment can last a lifetime, allowing you to be part of something bigger than yourself. For example, many of our students have been soldiers on the front lines, some are amputees, as you live alongside them and hear their stories, you'll better understand the world they are living in.

The Adventure of Faith

Participating in JDS is about adventure and Jesus at its core. This isn’t just another gap year; it’s a transformative experience that combines education, exploration, and profound spiritual growth. Living in a region where faith is essential will enhance your understanding of belief in powerful ways. Sunday School lessons will become practical experiences as you live out a live that requires faith.

As you navigate the rugged landscapes of Burma, each challenge will deepen your faith, fostering resilience and a clearer vision of what it means to walk with others on their journey.

Imagine waking up to the sounds of the jungle, rejuvenating your sense of adventure each day as you engage with both your studies and the natural beauty around you. The lessons learned and challenges faced will resonate throughout your life, strengthening your purpose in ways you can’t yet foresee.
